Unloomed #1: An Installation for Strings and Certain Sketchy Objects of String Theory

This January 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗽 and 𝗭𝗼𝗻𝗲𝟮𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 present 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: 𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗱 an interdisciplinary collaboration as part of the annual winter festival of lights organized by 𝗭𝗼𝗻𝗲𝟮𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 in the Amstelpark. 

Located in the 𝗚𝗹𝗮𝘇𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝘂𝗶𝘀 in the middle of the Amstelpark, the performances and installation are a result of the collaboration of three artist and performers groups. As a new way to present and experience art during a lockdown, the installation and performance will be quarantined and locked behind the windows, while the public can safely roam free around the glass box in the open quiet space of the park. A light and string installation inside the Glazen Huis creates a changing visual landscape of moving shapes, while the string construction is being played by musicians, generating a sound concert for the audience standing outside…

From 𝟭𝟱 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 – 𝟮𝟬 𝗳𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 the installation will be visible to view 13:00-19:00 from outside in the Amstelpark 𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦: 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴 16:30-19:00 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘭 𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘬 𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘨𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘧𝘵, 𝘴𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘵𝘰 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘮𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵..

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 focuses on processing artworks exclusively via working in opposition, 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘢 to one another. This results in three active groups that work separately, along specific “lines”, to create a visual installation that serves different purposes for each group, while forming a whole new phenomenon when performing together and blending their separate lines. The Contra aspect of this band of outsiders will seem evident in the performance but in the installation, the work will become completely integrated as a whole. 𝙐𝙣𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙙 refers to the groups that do not work together in the interwoven way as the 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗽’𝘀 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟭 that will be centered around the concepts looming and weaving as the symbolization of collaboration. 

String Theory
The framework in which the Unloomed Glazenhuis performances will be developed is 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘰𝘳𝘺. String Theory is derived from physics and refers to particles that are replaced by one-dimensional objects called strings. String Theory describes how strings propagate through space and interact with each other, and will function as an inspiration for the artists to produce visible and audible interaction.

The following groups will participate:
𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙀𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙏𝙤𝙙𝙤 𝙈𝙤𝙙𝙤 which works entirely with non-musical objects for the creation of music installations and performances and includes 𝘈𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘗𝘶𝘳𝘷𝘦𝘴, 𝘍𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘤𝘰 𝘙𝘰𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘺, 𝘋𝘪𝘳𝘬 𝘉𝘳𝘶𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘮𝘢, 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘚𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘩, 𝘙𝘰𝘣𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘵 𝘷𝘢𝘯 𝘏𝘶𝘭𝘻𝘦𝘯 and 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯 𝘙𝘦𝘯𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘸. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙨’ 𝙍𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 creates audiovisual performances with optics, multiple projections, lasers, and layered soundtracks usually against a complex spatial arrangement and includes 𝘝𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘳 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘧𝘰𝘷 and 𝘖𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘢 𝘈𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘭𝘦𝘺. 𝙍𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙤𝙯𝙤𝙣𝙚 is a group devoted to radio sound art installation and will be installing radio frequencies in and around the Glazenhuis, creating a relationship between sound and the architectural terrain. The “strings” will be extended outside the space into a feedback zone surrounding the building which can be explored by spectators by moving around the building.
